Gulf war milsim game, march sunday 8/3/09

    Scud attack.

The first attacks occurred on January 18, 1991, and continued until February 23. In all, 46 missiles were fired at Saudi Arabia and 40 at Israel. By firing missiles at Israel, Saddam Hussein hoped to provoke a retaliation from the Jewish state that would antagonize the Arab members of the U.S.-led coalition. To pacify the Israelis and prevent a split within their alliance, the United States sent two batteries of Patriot missiles to Israel and devoted important resources to neutralizing the Iraqi missiles and their launchers. Patriots were also deployed in Saudi Arabia, defending cities and coalition bases. Initially, Raytheon and the U.S. government claimed a very high success rate, with President George H. W. Bush declaring that, out of 42 Scuds engaged, 41 had been intercepted. However these figures were later amended, with the U.S Army stating that the Patriot systems had detected 88 Scuds, engaged 53, of which 27 had been successfully engaged. A successful intercept was judged to have occurred when the Scud warhead had been destroyed, or when the missile had been blown off target. These figures did not appease critics, such as Professor Theodore Postol, who instead suggested that the rate of Patriot intercepts was lower than 10 percent, based on video evidence. Much of the Patriot's difficulties stemmed from the fact that it was designed as an anti-aircraft weapon, with software modifications giving it an anti-missile capability in the mid-1980s. Its purpose was not to impact its target directly, but to approach close enough to spray it with shrapnel, which was not always sufficient to neutralize incoming Scuds. Also, the modified Iraqi Al-Hussein had a tendency to break up as it re-entered the atmosphere, creating large streams of debris. The Patriot had difficulty distinguishing between the largest pieces, that tended to be the fuselage, warhead and engine compartment.

    The misson.

    Scud hunt.

The IDF Intelligence Command so far has said that 4 A-10 strike aircraft flew over these zones during the day, and F-15Es fitted with LANTIRN pods and synthetic aperture radars patrolled at night. However, the infrared and radar signatures of the Iraqi TELSs were almost impossible to distinguish from ordinary trucks and from the surrounding electromagnetic clutter. While patrolling strike aircraft managed to sight their targets on 42 occasions, they were only able to acquire them three times long enough to release their ordnance. In addition, the Iraqi missile units dispersed their Scud TELs and hid them in culverts, 4 extended-range Scud missile fixed launching sites, have been spotted by Israel observers, the Israelis have asked for more batteries of Patriot missiles, but with the Patriot's difficulties stemmed from the fact that it was designed as an anti-aircraft weapon, The IDF Intelligence Command, have now desided to send in there Sayeret Yahalom Special Forces, demolitions unit, to take out these last 4 missile site's.

Stand by for, IDF Intelligence Command, misson intel and plans.

    Rules
It is your responsibility to read and understand these rules before attending the game.
Much effort has been made to make these rules as simple and easy to understand as possible.
The rules are designed to ensure that the players have considerable freedom while still providing a good level of safety. Common sense is the order of the day with safety coming first at all times.

    Sportsmanship and Honour
It is up you, the player, to remember that the sport of Airsoft is about honour. It is a game that is shared by a relatively small community compared to other sports. Therefore show your fellow airsofters respect during the game.

    Ammunition:

All magazines will be restricted to realistic loads.

Each player may carry a maximum of 10 standard magazines (Full battle loadout).
Pistols +2 mags maximum. Rifle drum mags 3 maximum. Machine gun box mags 2 maximum.
    Sniper rifles 8 mags maximum.
    NOTE ... mid-caps or lo-caps only, NO HI-CAPS

    Hits
If you are hit, the rules are simple:
SHOUT "HIT" AND IMMEDIATELY GO TO GROUND!!!
Wait 10 minutes for a medic to come to your aid. After 10 minutes return to regen for 10 minutes.
If a medic comes and applies a bandage to you, you can then carry on playing.
You may receive medical aid twice. If shot a third time, return to regen.
NOTE ... Remember, dead people DO NOT talk.
When returning to the regen, we do not expect to see any player passing tactical information to players on their team.

    Medics
Every section / squad will have one player assigned as a section medic.
All medics will be assigned before the game and all medics will start the game with medical supplies.
To heal a player a medic must tie a bandage around the casualties arm.
    Medics can NOT heal themselves.
Players can drag a casualty to cover before the medic arrives
A medic can move a casualty by simulated carry.
Simulated carrying involves two people either side of the casualty and pretending to carry them.
This MUST be done at a walking pace.
Only medics can apply the bandages.

FIRST HIT - Wait for a medic to apply medical aid to you before you continue playing,
However you bleed out after 10 minutes if you receive no medical aid

SECOND HIT - Wait for a medic to apply medical aid to you before you continue playing.
However you bleed out after 10 minutes if you receive no medical aid.

THIRD HIT - Killed in action (return to regen).

    Fighting Inside buildings
All guns should be set to semi-auto once fighting close quarter battle during room to room combat.
NOTE ... You can shoot out of a building on full-auto and you can shoot in to a building with full-auto when standing outside.

    Grenades
If you are within 5 metres of an exploding grenade outside of a building then you receive one hit.
An exploding grenade counts as 1 hit to everyone inside a room where the grenade detonates.
NOTE ... A flash bang grenade, is still treated as an exploding grenade.

    Battle Simulation Explosives
This section refers to the battle-sim style explosive effects generated by the pyro technicians to simulate HE rounds.
    In the open
The effects of mortars and artillery outside of buildings are calculated by Marshalls.
If hit then this is counted as 1 hit.

    Hits on buildings
If a shell or air strike hits a building then everyone inside is killed and the building is taken out of play for 30 minutes.
    NOTE ...
Smoke grenades will not be used within buildings.

    Cheers Paul,

    May I make a suggestion....

Could you run the game long so it go's on late past night fall, it would be good for the team going to PR3 for night milsim experience and night games are so much different it would be a good twist.

I want to attend but need a lift. Anyone near blackrock or bray that can get me from the N11?. I will share the petrol cost

I will do see what numbers show up, as i would like every one to have a go on the Special Forces unit, i will need 5 teams to run this game, one SF team, and 4, Iraqi missile team units.

If you any one, that can make this game, please post your name up here, so i can work out the game rules and times, also there will be no stopping for lunch or hanging around time, to take time to reload or taking a breather in between, every thing you need bring it with you in to the field, thanks.

    Paul.

Each player may carry a maximum of 10 standard magazines (Full battle loadout).
Pistols +2 mags maximum. Rifle drum mags 3 maximum. Machine gun box mags 2 maximum.

When a commander is hit then the "commanders medic rules" apply.

    Hits on buildings
If a shell or air strike hits a building then everyone inside is killed and the building is taken out of play for 30 minutes.
Players may continue to use the basement if there is a means to enter the basement other than using the building to do so.
    NOTE ...
Smoke grenades will not be used within buildings.

What exactly is the commanders medic rule?

And more importantly.......basements??????? I know I haven't been to HRTA for a few weeks, but wtf??????

I did see Richie with a shovel digging in a corner of the field a few weeks back, thought that was for Neil though....

Yeah, he was working on something. Dunno what ever happened with it...

But anyway, that quote above was from the rules for Sennybridge and Copehill Down. Just remember that when you're "calling in an airstrike" the marshals will put it more or less where you tell them to. If it's Danger Close to your own positions, some of your own forces are liable to be hit. So your FAC better know how to read a map and pass the targeting information clearly and accurately.

Fixed, Sorry about that, i copyed some of the rules from PR3, as a good few from here, are going over to this event, i thought it might help them by keeping the rules along the same line's as PR3, and i never used a medic rule before in a milsim game, at my site, so i would like to see how it works,
as for the basements, 3 cabins on the site, have an air space under them, that could be used as a basement, or for cover from an airstrike.

    Bravo Two Zero?

This misson went ahead, there call sign was בראבו שלוש אפס,
because Bravo Two Zero failed, but you wont find it in any history books.

As with any misson, only the failed one's get talked about.

I'm on for this, I don't think I have anything planned that weekend. Might see if I can pick up a few specific bits in time for it.

Dibs on YACHSAP position by the way, I assume one is needed at some stage.

I'll be flying home that morning from Rome, so I may just pop up when Iget home, or parachute from the plane for the ultimate milsim experience.

I'm only getting home from the south of france that night, so i'll miss this one, would have liked to go though.

Yachsap and Yael are both Yahalom, they just serve different roles. I figured, given the nature of the op, there might be a distinction between who is doing what in their positions. They're both combat engineers, just with different specialities. I assume there'll be no such distinction then?

There may be three or four of us up for this including myself.

Would it be out of the question to suggest arm bands or velcro patches rather then uniforms?
