I still believe Gardner could turn into a more attacking version of barry for the right half of midfield but hes still developing the more he plays in his proper position (CM), Villa signed him up to a long term deal at the start of the season too.

If Villa nicked a goal it would be a huge win considering the players left out (plus Carew getting injured before the game), Harewood brought on at Half-time as The Fonz was getting limited support up front in the first half.
