Think Illanaran is the Irish name all right, I've always heard it called Green Island though from my time on the island. Its supposedly a bird sanctuary as well, not sure if thats just in name or anything official, a nice part if the world regardless!

Is the second one on Arran again or is it a new test?

Is it Horn Head? There's an obvious unconformity in the rock layers, and possible Dark intrusives. Thinking the Horn Head Slide?

  • Registered Users Posts: 413 ✭✭MeteoritesEire

It's not Horn Head muckish though you had me searching google as I wasn't sure where Hornhead was.Interesting that you mentioned dark intrusives though as that very thing defined the whole day out there.I'll post another pic or 2 shortly showing what I mean that won't give the location away unless one was extremely familiar with it I would think

I'd never heard of the Horn Head slide but after you mentioned that I thought I'd stumbled on it unwittingly with this huge lava/basalt pipe-you can see the same 2 sea caves from my first pic
