I have found it difficult to get through on the phone to a friend in the evenings. I get a rapid busy-tone - faster than the normal busy tone you get from eircom phones. My friend is using NTL/UPC for his phone and Broadband. I am using eircom, and have no problem phoning anyone else. I have also tried from the mobile, and also fail to get through, so it seems to be definitely an NTL/UPC issue. He assures me that he has not been on the phone at the times I have been trying him. He also says that calls regularly break down for no reason even when ringing landlines from his NTL phone. Is it possible that Broadband congestion on the NTL network in the neighbourhood is blocking the phone calls from getting through? My friend never gets anything near the advertised NTL speeds in the evenings. Anyone else experience this problem?
