You know, he'll probably get close to that. They have a cult following from certain section of the motoring populace. Personally, I wouldn't give a tenth of that as they are all noise and sideways rather than handling (standard height handling is fine, but to find one at standard height!)

Proper bog mobile with all the spot lights! Not NCT exempt, not far off the mark with is €50 per year road tax.

There's a massive market for them and limited supply. Hard to think that in 2001 they were going for less than 2k. Makes you wonder what car in 14 years time that's less than 2k will be asking this much.

"One of the cleanest around" he says. It needs springs, front bumper and probably grill. Also needed are door locks, steering wheel, parcel shelf, O/E alloys, standard steering rack and proper spec engine for it to be one of the cleanest.

    Also, the number plates.....

I've seen ae86s go for 15k but they are spectacular examples. 21k for that yoke though...I'd have said looking at the pics and the specs somewhere around 7k.

Edit: and at 7k you can get nicer ones.

That's fairly strong alright. I would have thought 3.5k Euro max really. Although I think that perticular dealer is known to be expensive when it comes to secondhand cars.

A ruined original irish ae86 is what it is, worth nothing close to his asking, the tax book & vin plate are the most valuable parts to that motor.

21k for an old Toyota corollla, I really don't get that. I remember about 10 years ago seeing a lot of these pop up for around 6-10k. Maybe they are a cult car but to be honest for me thats nothing more then a little banger.. Sorry about that.

They have gone up in price yeah, no doubt about that but I'm seriously doubtful you would have got anything other in them than a piece of scrap in 2001 for 2k mark. Would not be full sure of the price of them in 2001 but one was on my wishlist in 2002/03 direction (really wishful thinking) and moderately decent ones were asking around 6-8k then. Could be way of the mark but doubtful asking/ selling prices went up that much in that space of time. Don't get me wrong not saying that the one in hand is not overpriced either.

Seller mentions its just as clean now as it was as a demo car for Murphy and Gunne in Dublin in 1983. I would doubt Murphy or Gunne would be showing a demo car to the public looking like that.

It is €21k for a modified damaged car that needs work to suspension (just by looking at the photos) plus likely some attention in other areas.
    No.

To answer that question I'd be looking towards a fourth or fifth generation Celica or fourth or fifth generation Civic if you can find one out there that hasn't being totally abused/ molested/ neglected

Near me there is an area that is literally ae86 mad. You would be shot if you said anything bad about them. They are literally the sh!t to these guys and nothing compares to them. Obviously the spend all there time messing them around at crossroads. But they certainly do have some serious fans.

No kilkenny. Kind of a few of the country side areas are hugely into them.

The Tofu delivery car from Initial D. I knew I seen a movie recently with one of those cars in it. The movie one had popup headlamps though. The irish ones look like a regular corrola saloon front end.

They were sold as the Levin(lightning) and Trueno(thunder) in Japan, the one in Initial D was a GT APEX Trueno.
UK spec AE86's never came with the Trueno front, only the Levin and sold as a Corolla GT.
Same basic car, brilliant none the less.

Yeah easy enough done, my 530d was down as the same when I had it. Still insured and on the book as a 530d just engine size was down as 1995cc.
