For various reasons he never pursued a prosthetics remedy. I have been informed by his social worker that he had at one time some piece of equipment that enabled him to pull up his trousers - he no longer has this.

Any ideas on what could be done? The simpler the better as this has to be made for the man in question.

The very simplist would be to convert to elasticated waisted trousers. Put a bungie or spring on the wall with two hooks on a spreader beam.

the man would arm/rig the bungie by using his foot to extend it down to a holder/trigger hook about 150mm off the ground. Then place the back of his trousers on the hooks using his feet. Step into the legs and shuffle forward to release the bungie.

The system could also work in reverse.
