Pre 2003 Portumna only ever made it to 1 senior county final (95). They've only been senior since 1993. They have an exceptional group of players at the moment and luckily they're making the most of it:D.

Michael Ryan came to us to play. He wanted a club all-ireland to go with the county 1!

I have 20 euro on the Notherners to beat DLS

You were unlucky with that bet, they were robbed in the end!!!

Well considering he was playing with an intermediate club in Tipp I guess it wasnt too much of a drop down for the lad :D

But seriously as a Portumna man urself how do you feel about someone like that playing for Portumna because essentially he is taking the place of a local guy on the team, I know he was working in Portumna at the time he transferred but he no longer is and has no real connection to the club at all , im not stirring it now at all just curious as to how you feel about it or are results the be all and the end all so to speak??

From my point of view i have no problem with the lad hurling for us. I dont think there's anybody there to replace him and im sure the rest of the team feel the same way. He moved there and started something which is still ongoing (winning all-irelands) and even though hes moved it would be very hard to walk away from all that.

Over the years there were plenty of good hurlers that moved away from portumna and hurled elsewhere. Every club experiences boyh sides of the coin and i dont think anyone can feel bitter about it.
