    Hi all,

Ok my exchange finally got updated during the week, sales rep came around and checked the line and said he should be fine, so i ring up eircom to order and they say that the system is only showing up 1mb at the moment this could be just because the exchange only went live and the it could take a few weeks for it to come up on the system.

My other fear is that we are on a carrier line, so i rang up and checked and found out it was a carrier line, i thought myself that only one house can get broadband from this and one of the tech supports confirmed this, i rang up today again to find out some other stuff and said i was on a carrier line and the sales person said that means i cant get broadband, i then rang up tech support again and they said a carrier line means no broadband at all. And its 109 euro to get a new line in.

Where does this leave me now?

system says 1mb but this could change in a few weeks?

one tech support guy said 1 house can get broadband

the other said no houses can get broadband

the line says ok for broadband.

    Help !

Check the BT and Vodafone and Digiweb line checkers but I suspect you only pass as 'amber' on eircom and will fail elsewhere

Therefore what it means is that if you order off eircom they will pass your line by fixing it , if you order off anyone else your line converts to a permanent fail , you may check though.

can you PM me the exchange please and tell us how the other checks go please

If you pass on BT then eircom have to accept the order, off with you .

........ just off the phone again with eircom, still only 1 mb showing up so i gave them my next door neighbours phone number to check and they can get 15mb(they arent on the carrier) so where do i go from here? He said even if they install a new line he cant say for sure i will be able to get better speeds.
