For the love of god no! Just no!
    Aqua - Barbie Girl

Solid choice. More of a Dr Jones or Turn Back Time man myself.

Why do people use the word "rift". I assume you meant to say riff! :P
Although there was a wee bit of a rift between axl and slash at that stage.

I cant stop listening to Tear for Fears, Everybody Wants To Rule The World at the mo!

Why couldnt I be young in the 80's.............(sighs):(

    Snap...very much a 70's and 80's person...born on the 7th month of 1989. I was cutting it close!

It would either be I wish It Would Rain Down by Phil Collins, Paradise By The Dashboard Light - Meat Loaf/Steinman, The Rising - Bruce Springsteen or Naked Ride Home - Jackson Browne

    That. Song. Rocks.

That and Don't You Forget About Me also by Tears for Fears. Love the 80s. CLEARLY the best decade for music all things considered.

I'm going to rise to the bait and plug the two obvious answers, "Free Bird" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) and "Stairway to Heaven" (Led Zeppelin).

Just to get them out of the way like :)

White Christmas (nothing to do with the aryan brotherhood)

That's if you base your decision on sales and on the number of people who have covered it.:)

Bob Dylan and Neil Young have a few contenders.

How about Fast Car by Tracey Chapman?

    +1

Evocative lyrics. Most memorable melody. That piano roll part in the middle George Martin played. Best sentiment in a song.

I'm always reluctant to use the word "best" especially when talking about music, as that's in the "ears" of the beholder. ;) Two of my all time favourite songs however, would be "Honosty" by Billy Joel and "Something" by the Beatles.
