Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Newbie back again with another C&C. Yesterday I decided to head out to the waterfalls in Gelnariff Forest Park. I dabbled with some long exposures and this was the best of the 150 or so that I took! I'd really welcome comments on what works in this pic and also what I could have done to improve it. It was an overcast day which is why I haven't included what was above the waterfall.

It might just be my dreary eyes on an early Sunday morning, but I think the image would benefit from a slight anti-clockwise rotation just to straighten it a bit.

    Lovely shot though.

EDIT: I took the liberty, I couldn't resist, I hope you don't mind.

Thanks for that, it def looks better with the straightening. Did you do anything else, it looks sharper in your edit?

No, just opened it with PS, cropped and rotated slightly. I do notice a slight difference though now that you mention it. Weird!?

Nice shot, good mixture of colour in foilage and rocks contrasting with the water. I feel the composition would be stronger if the water didn't start so near the top of the frame. I understand the difficulty as this area probably blows out with such a long exposure. Using an ND filter like an ND4 with a 2 or 3 second exposure might have enabled you to include this area.

Thenorthbank edit looks more saturated, perhaps its using a different colour space, did you use sRGB?

Its a very nice shot and well done. To my eyes its slightly over exposed but that could be personal taste tbh.

I like the shot, maybe I would have went for a more portrait orientation and straighten up the image
It is best to shoot waterfalls on overcast days, you won't get light flairing against the water.
Did you use a polarizer, if not, this will really help reducing all the glare on the water and getting nice strong contrast?
A polarizer will also help with slowing down the shutter by 1-2 stops, so you'll have more milky water.

This is a shot of Powerscourt Waterfall using a circular polarizer.
Camera was at ISO100, f/32 for 15 seconds
