I had my green bin taken last week from out side my house. I live in Rush. I can't locate it anywhere in the estate. Has this happened to anyone else and if so will I be charged by the council for a replacement

Bit of an epidemic of this recently. All the bins are slowly being burned in my estate, in Malahide.

Green Bins have been provided to all householders in Fingal to help you recycle your household packaging, as part of a Dublin regional kerbside recycling initiative. Your green bin is collected once every 2 weeks. If you don't have an up to date collection calendar contact the Greyhound Recycling & Recovery Helpline on 1890 342 342 or download your collection calendar from the green bin website. Please make sure that you have your green bin out before 7am on your collection day to ensure it is emptied. If your bin is lost or stolen a delivery charge of €30 applies for a replacement green bin. If you are having difficulty with the Green Bin service provided by Greyhound or cannot contact the Helpline please contact Fingal County Council on 01 890 6251 or email envserv@fingalcoco.ie.

sorry about the misleading information billyhead, when mine went missing oxigen were still doing the green bins and replaced it free of charge,i assumed that greyhounds policy would be similar and i agree 100%,that is ridiculous, outrageous even.

Thanks for the offer Jim but I will give the council a ring and see if I can get a replacement. Its the least I would expect after forking out €110 for the annual charge

In fairness though, it's not the fault of the council/ratepayers/taxpayers either.

My green bin went for a walk a month ago and it finally turned up yesterday. Straight across the roadat number 10(im 11). The cheekey gits even tried to change the 11 i painted on it into a 10 but in a cream paint instead of a white i had used. So it now has a lovely two tone 1D on it :D

Because these bins are full of paper they are ripe for the picking for scumbags looking for something to set on fire. My parents had 2 stolen in Swords, but at the time they were replacing the first one free of charge. I think in the end they chained it to a wall or something. I have a feeling that the council relented and refunded them the 70 euros or so since it wasn't their fault. I feel for people living in complexes where there may be no alternatives to outside and vulnerable storage. It would be helpful if deavy duty chains and locks were made available to such customers.
