Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have windows xp, service pack 3 and I am trying to transfer a file via bluetooth.

I have done it before but now it just wont work.

I have a toshiba satellite pro laptop.

first of all its saying something about a bluetooth radio- cannot find anything like this in device manager.

i have my bluetooth turned on on my phone and it wont let me add the device nor will my phone pick up the laptop.

when i try to change the settings to visible to all devices- i get an error saying cannot save connection and detection settings.

i have a bluetooth dongle which i usually use but dont have it at the minute so trying to use this way as i have done before.

    any help :)

on some laptops Bluetooth and wifi can be turned off with a switch on the side / front of the laptop

check the bluetooth icon in control panel / on the task bar to see if it's active

Bluetooth radio may be disabled in the machine's BIOS too, might be worth having a look in there.

You normally use a Bluetooth dongle on that laptop?

Are you trying to use the phone AS a bluetooth dongle by connecting the phone via USB? (That won't work).

    explain:
    1) Which two devices you are trying to transfer between.

    2) How you are trying to connect phone to laptop when you Don't have the Bluetooth dongle you normally have.

I can connect to my phone via USB to copy files, or via BT if I put a BT dongle on the Laptop (it has no built in Bluetooth).

I can't use the phone's BT or WiFi as a feature for the Laptop, only the phone's GSM /3G modem mode, either by USB cable or Bluetooth dongle on Laptop, or by Joiku series 60 software to turn phone into a WiFi hot spot.

The only way on my laptop to transfer files via Bluetooth is with the bluetooth USB dongle plugged in.

Try explaining again what you are doing and trying to achieve.

my laptop has bluetooth built in, ive used it before with my phone. (without the dongle plugged in)
i use the dongle as its wasier to navigate around.
im trying to send a file from my laptop to my phone.

havnt a clue about bios but its worked before so i assume its enabled there.

my wireless switch is set to on, on the laptop.

That suggests two different version of BT stack software. (There practically only are two versions).

The dongle BT settings/ version will have used up the virtual serial ports and may have disabled the prior version.

    Uninstall the dongle software.
Uninstall the built in BT software
uninstall all com ports in Device manager above com2
reboot and it should automatically detect and install the built in BT adaptor.
