O'Shea has had a terrible start to 2011 so that was a welcome performance last weekend. The German Open is taking place this weekend, this is a high ranking event on the BDO calendar. Do you know if Martin McCloskey will be attending this tournament?

Not a clue but as a betting man i'd say no. Theres 2 full ranked Indo's on this week in Roscommon. Doubt he'll pass them up.

The German Open singles events were held yesterday. In the mens singles Tony O'Shea continued his recent run of good form reaching the final but he was defeated 3 sets to 2 by the latest young Dutch sensation on the scene Benito Van De Pas. Benito is 18 years old and has also played on the PDC youth tour a number of times.

Northern Ireland's Martin Carvill reached the last 64 to earn himself 12 ranking points and is climbing the rankings steadily to put himself in with a chance of qualifying for Lakeside.

The Swiss Open is been played this weekend and yesterday the singles events were completed.

In the mens singles England's Paul Jennings continued his rise up the rankings when he won the final 2 sets to 1 against Christian Kist. Paul is in a great position now to qualify for Lakeside and he would thoroughly deserve a place there with him travelling all over Europe to gain those precious points for Lakeside next January.

In the ladies singles Russian Irina Armstrong defeated England's Fiona Gaylor 2 sets to 1.

It's probably safe to say that we'll have to depend on the qualifiers in October to hope some Irish qualify for Lakeside 2012. The BDO International Open taking place this weekend coming in Brean Sands,Somerset. 1 of the bigger BDO Opens and good prize money for a change! We might get a few Irish players competing at this event.

The Lakeside normally starts on the first Saturday in January which next year falls on the 7th of January. Also it means that the 2 World championships won't be overlapping one another which IMO is better for all concerned.

The singles events finals were held this evening in Selsey.

In the mens singles final Gary Robson took home the £5000 winners cheque when he defeated Ted Hankey 6 legs to 2 in a mediocre final. Averages for the final were Robson 83.64,Hankey 75.96! Hankey got £2000 for his runner up position.

In the ladies final England's Karen Lawman defeated Finland's Kirisi Vinikainen 4 legs to 2.

This tournament was ran solely by the England darts organisation and they done a superb job updating results and scores throughout the weekend on their website, the BDO would do well to ask the EDO to take over the running of their organisation!

It has been confirmed this evening by Martin Fitzmaurice on the BDO's facebook page that this year's Winmau World Masters will be screened on ESPN.

Rumours had circulated that the BBC had dropped the Masters from their sports list last week so like a lot of others I expected it not to be shown elsewhere so a surprise to see the BDO managed to get another TV company to screen it!

The masters will be held on weekend September 2nd-4th.

Great news.At least we might get more than 23 minutes of coverage before the final on ESPN.

While it's a big week for darts fans in Blackpool the weekend just gone was a big weekend for BDO players in Blackpool with the BDO ranked England Masters taking place yesterday excellently organised by the England Darts Organisation.

I've just joined boards i can't believe there are so many fellow BDO fans.

The PDC might have the glitz and glamour but the BDO is where it all began and where do all the youngsters get trained.

Barry Hearn can crush on, Long Live the BDO (although i must confess Simon Whitlock is my fav player as my name may suggest)

Also does anyone else think it is a fundamental error by the PDC to drop the womens world champs?

The ladies singles final was won by record Lakeside title holder Trina Gulliver when she defeated Lorraine Farlam 3 legs to 1.
