Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

    Can someone recommend me a camera and I'm sure you are sick of these posts!!

    I'd fall into the "Occasional snaps of friends, family and visual reminders of visited places." sort of camera use

    My present one is getting old and the delay between taking a photo and ready to go again is way way way too long..

    Budget would be 100 to 200 ish

    Please help

    Any of the Panasonic Lumix range would be a great place to start. Available with a variety of specs and prices. Face recognition, image stabilisation are features.

    There are other brands but as I've direct experience of this range I'm recommending this range.

    The other major manufacturers also produce equally capable models with similar features.

    @DaireQuinlan

    Yep I saw that hence using the "Occasional snaps of friends, family and visual reminders of visited places." quote in my opening question, I was looking more for brands and models as I've no
    knowledge in this area

    If you are looking for a general use Point & Shoot Compact then you will not go wrong with any of the Canon range. AFAIK all their compacts are very good value for money & I have seen some good images from a small Powershot a friend took on a world trip. She had very little knowledge of photography & it handled things pretty well.

    If you see a model you are interested in then looking at the review on DPReview will give you an indepenent opinion.

    Canon have a good range but Fuji have very good low light capabilities afaik.
