And here was I thinking I had a decent rig!

I'm not jealous though. Not a bit, no.

Valve don't have an Irish office, do they...? :)

what the hell do they need those for? they are so far beyond what you need to play any valve game maxed out its ridiculous. do you need fancy processors and 12gb ram for programming and other game making jiggery-pokery...because very few games are processor dependant.

i am fairly jealous though.....id love one of their cast offs!

They aren't playing the games though they are making them. Some of the tools used to make games would benefit from a very fast computer. Saying that it isn't that big an upgrade considering what they are moving from.

It would be used for the tools and IDEs (Integrated Development Envirnoments).

Here at work, I have a Quad-core Intel Xeon and 4GB of Ram and we need it, our poor PCs get terrible abuse!

Are they sponsored or something? So pointless....a 780i sli board....with single video card which in some cases is an ATI one....on an overpowered power supply....and with 4gb ram/1gb gpu on 32bit os....
Saying that it isn't that big an upgrade considering what they are moving from.

Their new upgrade is massive in the context of what they use them for. Going from 4GB DDR2 to 12Gb DDR3?
