Alright folk, I'm in me final year in UCD and I was thinking of applying for a funded PhD at Queen Mary, University of London. I'm doing well so far in UCD, applying for a PhD here but I was just wondering whether anyone had any thoughts on QMUL, is it a good college etc... for research? I know Mile End quite well, stayed in the campus of this place for 2 months so I know what it's like physically, what I'd like to know is, is it a good place to do a PhD? Any advice would be helpful.

I'm doing a BA in Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy in UCD and I was looking into doing a PhD in Physical Geography (pollution in river systems etc...). I read a few bits and pieces here and there about QMUL but I wanted to hear peoples' opinions, is it a good spot for this kind of research (earth science/physical geography), is it a good university in general (atmosphere, people, etc...).

it probably has the weakest reputation amongst the constituent college of the UOL. Its competing against Kings, SOAS, UCL, LSE etc which would have far better reputations.
