Been out all morning out in Fingal Airsoft using a G&P M4 on a G&P 9.6v battery. Firing perfect, no hicups. By lunch time, battery was running low, the rate of fire was dropping. So decided to change it to a Firefox 9.6v battery which was decharged and then fully charged the night before. No response from the M4. Couldn't be arsed to fiddle around with it, so used another AEG.

Got home then and decided to give the M4 another try. Upon pulling the trigger, a light "clink" sound can be heard coming out from the gearbox. Switched it to full auto, the "clink" sounded like a half cycle of the piston. Switched back to semi, pulled the trigger a few more times, and bob's your uncle, it started firing...

    Any explaination would be appreciated.

    It's just a lock up,
It happens when a battery gets low and the piston rests in the cocked position, sometimes with the new battery there isn't enough ummph to turn the gearbox over because the piston is under pressure. Either using a fully charged battery or a more powerful battery(higher voltage) can jolt the gearbox into turning over,. This doesent always work though and in this case what I usually do is pop out the forward body pin and slide off the upper receiver, then just get a long thin screwdriver and stick it down through the air nozzle and push the piston back manually. This will release the tension on the piston/gears/motor and the gun will fire normally again,.
