Canadian or other non-Irish deposit account

    Apart from the currrency risk, is Canada one of the safest places for deposits at the moment?

    If so, does anyone know how to go about depositing there and what sort of deposit guarantee scheme they operate?

    If not, any ideas about other non-Irish accounts in stable economies?

    Are you based in Ireland?. If so, there is no point in taking the currency risk here when 6 banks are covered until September 2010 for all deposits.

    Start looking elsewhere after that if you're still worried.
