Im hoping to be studying in London later this year and was wondering does anyone know where the best location is to find affordable accomodation. I'd like to be as central as possible for as cheap as possible. Any advice or recommendations?

Best to ask your university for help. Worth considering halls for the first year. If you are renting make sure you use the services of the university to check your rental agreement. Don't ever hand over money without a signed agreement first.

Personally I liked the west of london around wembley or ealing. Good transport and places to eat. Worth taking a week in a hostel to explore a bit as nothing beats walking about.

www.rightmove.co.uk will give you an idea of rents.

Student travel cards are available as well and the underground, though busy, is efficient. It's a great city. Enjoy your time. :)

This site is really helpful, it has area guides and a whole section on student housing. Also check out this London Map, it is interactive and you can look at it by street or look at it by tube line... Really handy if you know what tube stop is near your college, you can pick an area that has the same train line as your college to live in!

www.gumtree.co.uk is the main site used to get flat shares in London.

You want to share with other students though, that way you get a council tax exemption. Council tax is expensive. From that point of view, the simplest thing to do is to go to your universities accommodation office and see what they have.
