Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Am going to see Hue and Cry in Whelans tomorrow, would it be cool to bring the Camera, it is an Aitken Promoted concert and is no way I am leaving the camera if they try to take it off me?

I have never had any issues with camera in Whelans and i have been to multiple gigs in there over the last year or so. At times there have been large numbers of us in there, with a high percentage of camera and we had no problems.

One thing i will say, beware the red light. Whelans kind of sucks on the lighting side of things.

Generally, Whelans are grand, though it does depend on the night.

Yeah, Whelan's is fine for cameras. I'm the house photographer (appreciate my photos on the walls!) and there's always an abundance of photographers and I've never seen anyone get stopped.

You'll need fast a decent fast lens, and if it's going to be packed get there early because it can be very difficult to get up the front. The red lights are also a pain.

I don't think they are exclusive? Most of the bands i go and see that are Irish based are self promote/own label types and i would have seen a good few of them in there.

Not been to Whelan's often over the years but I did like it when I was there 'cept for the bouncers of course....
Is it still the same owners as The Village?
I've only shot once there and thats when I was very much a beginner, just had a look at them and yes I am embarrassed about them. :P
Anyway I have a choice of 5 gigs this weekend!!
Never seen such a congestion like that before!

Well, i'm one of three photographers in there, so it's likely you were looking at the other guys!

I did shoot them once in there, but it wasn't recently. Over 6 months ago I'd say - mental band! they move way to quick for photos :)

It is yeah. They own Andrew's Lane Theatre now too. It's a handy little nixer and I get freebies into all three venues whenever I want which is a plus. Nearly value that more than the money :)

The only gig Whelan's have ever had photo restrictions on was a Christy Moore show. For that gig though, they also closed the bar during the performance which is very unusual. I was under strict instructions - no flash, first three songs only, minimum of 10 meters from the stage at all times, make no noise whatsoever. of course, i walked in and instantly kicked over about 5 pints that had been left on the ground by people stocking up before the performance started. made a lot of noise, got a lot of dirty looks :)

Ah yeah, the Bud Rising show that they did with the big pile up at the end! Next time i am in Whelans and i see you about i'll make sure to stay out of your shots!:)

And your right as well, out of 3 gigs i have 7 usable pictures of them. Way too much energy!
