I am loving this game, I really am. I played a good few matches online last night and while it can get laggy in bits its really good.
One thing I've noticed with people online is that they cannot play the game. Between ranked and unranked matches I'm about 25-0-4 (in ranked i'm 9-0-2 but I had 3 guys quit as I've won). with all my wins I would say I have about 21 submissions, all in the first round and a good lot in the first minute. The guys online just seem to run out and start throwing punches and kicks. After about 30 or 40 seconds of me blocking they are gassed so I just take them down and submit them. It gets a bit repetative but its still fun

Gotta love online button bashers! :D Thankfully this game doesn't love them so much!

Loving this game at the moment. Got my created fighter into the Hall of Fame but does anyone have any tips to get the Submission of the Night, I can sub guys no problem, have done many different subs too (rear naked choke, triangle, flying armbar, etc, etc). Is it just random?

Still waiting on this to come from the UK. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow but I'll only be able to fit in a small amount of game time before I go on holidays. Really looking forward to it though!

Just thought id say lads. This is one of the best games i have played.

A mate of mine had the lads around for a BBQ on Friday, he's got a PS3 and i convinced him to buy UFC (He is a UFC fan). So 6 of us started playing at around 6pm, 2 of us were UFC fans, the other 4 had never watched it before...

2am and we are still playing, winner stays on, Kimora's, Triangle Chokes, Flash KO's the lot are coming out, all of us totally loving it. Learning as we play, by the end of the night we the lads who never watched UFC before were saying they would start watching.

I was reluctant about playing "noobs" because i thought the learning curve would be too much, but you catch on to this so quickly, everybody won a few games at least.

    Cracking game.

FYI. I picked this game up in Symths Athlone yesterday for €34.99 ( €39.99, but €34.99 with loyalty card). I see they have put the price up to €49.99 this morning. I booked it online yesterday which is valid at €39.99 until the end of today. I never used the reservation number as they had loads of copies when I went into the store. If anyone wants the reserveration number, PM me. They have until the end of today to pick it up at €39.99 or €34.99 with loyalty card

Hmmm, this has the potential to be very annoying online...

I was Machida, had less than 10% damage for all body parts, my opponent had no stamina left, I had 3/4 of a bar. I was basically hammering him. He puts a submission on, with him having no stamina, me having loads, and me having no damage taken, I was punching to brute force out of it, and all of a sudden I tap in the first round. Not really much ya can do about that. Very frustrating :(

I doubt Machida's submission defence is that high. Rare to see him take a fight to the ground and the only sub I remember him being put in was against Tito and he looked in alot of trouble from that triangle but time was against Tito and Ortiz is not exactly a submission specialist

Uh, let me get rid of those doubts so ;)

His submission defense is 83 (offense is 86). Actually, only two people in light heavyweight have a higher submission defense.

Surprising, he's only shown it once in his career that I've seen him and was unconvincing.

Then it's possible there are flash submissions just as there are flash knockouts. After all, submission wins can come from nowhere in the sport,Lesner Mir for example

Uh...Its not like Machida doesn't know what he's doing when it comes to submissions. He has a couple of MMA submission victories and zero loses by submission as far as I know. Thats why he has fairly high stats for it.

My original point is that its frustrating whatever way you look at it. Less than 10% damage taken on every body part, he has no stamina, I have 3/4, I have high submission defense (higher than his submission offense), and I tap. It happens, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

Could be a modded controller. I fought some guy last night (I was Cro Cop and he was Lesnar). He has 0 stamina left and I had about 3/4. I got him in a kimura and he got out of it and then got me in a leg lock and I tapped even though he had no stamina and I had just less than half a bar at that stage. The cheaters and disconnecters are ruining online play, but its still fun

I've just got the game and got my assed kicked online a few times 3-9. My ground defence is woeful, once they get full mount I cant get them off, the best I can do is a minor transition which reults in giving up my back.

Also, when going for submission or takedown is it better to tap the button or roll the analogue stick?

I find full mount very hard to get out of, especially against a wrestler. Ventured into my first two ranked games last night, thankfully I didn't get violated as I did in player matches the other night :)

I think I've played Axwell 30 times now and its 15 wins each!!!!

The mount is pretty hard to get out of alright. Initially in the ranked matches I was 12-2, but then I started playing alot higher ranked guys who used the mount and I'm now at 16-12 :( I've been trying to find ways around it and what can work is either A: hold them in the mount down position and keep the right stick pushed right so they cant full mount you. If you do this long enough the ref will stand you both up. Its kinda cheap but if the other guy is just spamming the mount the whole match then f*ck em:pac:.
The other option is if you have a BJJ fighter. Again from mount down if you can get into the rubber guard you can do a transition where you get mount offensive. It can be tricky to do but when it works its pretty sweet.

As far as submission go I win the majority of my matches by submission. I find that when doing the submission rolling the stick fairly fast but at a steady pace does the job (you dont need to go nuts with it). For trying to get out of subs I just button mash the face buttons and go for the power out. It doesnt leave you in a great position but at least you get out of it.
    Hope this helps people.

If you have a wrestler you can get out of the mount by holding L1 and flicking in the up and right motion to roll to half guard offensive. Hence why I tend not to care about being put in the mount. If you're a BJJ guy just apply the rubber guard immediately when you get down and if you hate being brough down remember to press the left stick in once your on top to stand immediately.

The only thing I cannot figure out is when I'm in the mount but being held down how do i posture up?
