I stupidly bought cheap surround sound - stupid mistake oh well
but maybe someone can help me

basically the only inputs on it (5.1 btw) are 6 phono ports, the only output options from my TV (Bravia) 360, PS3 or anything else are HDMI or optical audio out, and I think just the normal 2 phono out on the TV (red and white or whatever it is.)

Is there any way for me to get 5.1 going with this?

What you need is an external decoder. You can stream LPCM over hdmi from the ps3 to something like this.

There would be cheaper options for just external plain DD/DTS decoders that would work from optical/coaxial SPDIF outputs.

If you use the AV lead you got with the PS3 (AV to red, yellow and white) and just plug the the red and white into your stereo (not the yellow obviously as I assume your video is done by HDMI).

Now you just have to tell your PS3 to output audio via the AV rather than the HDMI.
