Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know the deal with Arbeloa's injury? Really don't like Carra at RB especially in games like this where you just know that the full-backs will have decent chances to get forward and be creative.

Surprised Benny isn't in the starting line-up - as against that I'm plesased to see Riera didn't get the nod after his mid-week performance.

The big one though is Stevie is starting though - a lot more confident we'll get a result.

Any chance we might see more of a 4-2-1-3

    Reina,
    Carragher, Hyypia, Skrtel, Aurelio
    Alonso-Mascherano
    Gerrard
    El Zhar
    Kuyt
    Babel

Confirmed Subs: Cavalieri, Dossena, Riera, Benayoun, Lucas, Ngog, Darby.

Middlesbrough: Jones, Hoyte, Wheater, Huth, Pogatetz, O'Neil, Bates, Arca, Downing, Sanli, Aliadiere. Subs: Turnbull, Taylor, Emnes, Alves, King, Adam Johnson, Walker.

The worry would have to be Aliadiere's pace especially if he gets up against Carrr and Hyypia on runs.

Really time for Babel and El Zhar to step up today.

Would love it love it love it love it if we ended up winning this one three nil.

Ok before kick off I'm placing a warning in this thread - any trolling or accusations there of will be met with infractions. I'm going to try and get a weekend without a Liverpool match thread being locked.

Sunderland come calling on Tuesday so thats why El Zhar is starting over Yossi today I think.

Excellent point - Sunderland at Anfield are far more likely to park the bus - Yossi must be a shoe-in for that game where space will more than likely be at more of a premium compared to today.

Presuambly Arbeloa is being rested as well - aint heard a thing about any injury

Obviously a must win game for Liverpool.

I think El Zar has done well for Liverpool when he plays. Not because of him, but because he gives the attack some shape. There's real genuine width in that team which will be vital to break down Boro's defence. Think its a good selection considering what there's there.

any streams folks? Iraq goals is surprisingly bare

<edit> refreshed with a decent one there, still, always good to have options if anyone has more

Just been thinking about it - If Darby had started it would have meant we had himself and El Zhar in front of him on the right-hand side of the pitch. Given it's El Zhar first start I'm sure he'll be a lot more comfortable with the experience of Carra behind him. Pretty sure it would have meant two debutantes starting one ahead of the other if Darby was behind El Zhar

Skrtel should have been tighter there - not enough pressure on the cross.
Worried Downing may have the upper hand there

Boro clearly not parking the bus

Get the feeling that if Lvierpool got one, there could be the possibilty of the floodgates opening

Did anyone else hear the Setanta commentator just say something like "All the Liverpool people we spoke to are even more insistent that Rafa will be leaving at the end of the season", or did I imagine it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,233 ✭✭✭darkskol

got off the hook there with a poor cross from downing

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Downing v Skrtel is the only worry

Babel doing well - looks up for it

    Kuyt keeps dropping too deep

Heard to too - Sellotanta aint exactly known for their breaking of stories though

Nice move there - nice header by Babel

    Skrtel did better there defensively

Gerrard doesnt really look 100% in spite of his chances

Skrtel is not looking comfortabe at all on the right.

Alonso shouldnt have been looking at Kuyt with the ball. The proper pass was to the other side with players runnign into free space.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Skrtel a liability at RB imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,520 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Yeah Srktl looking disinterested at Right Back. Gerrard having a moan.

Babel just being crap as per.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Well a few changes required, Babel off Reina on? Benny on for El Zhar?

Go 4-4-2, drop Masch and push Babel up front with Kuyt, bring on Riera and Yossi on for El Zhar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,520 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I think El Zhar has been the best player to be honest.
