Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Problem uploading photographs to laptop

    Hi,
Recently when trying to download photo's from my camera to the laptop I keep getting an error message:
"Failed to obtain thumbnails from the device. The device is not connected or is busy."

The camera is a Canon 350D. It has only happened within the past two or three weeks and worked fine before this.

Everything seems to be fine prior to this message appearing; i.e. it recognises that the camera is attached, connects to the device and searches for media, counts up all the photographs on the camera then the error shows up.
I have reinstalled Photoshop in case this was the problem but hasn't made any difference to it.

    Has anybody got any ideas?

maybe you could try putting the memory card directly into your laptop, skip the camera

I have just bought a card reader this minute for it!

I was hoping to also try to sort out this issue too though.

How are you getting the files from the Camera?
    Do you use:
    Photoshop, File>Import
Canon Software, CameraWindow (I usually use this)
    Or browse in via Explorer.

Maybe you need to reinstall the Canon sotfware as well as Photoshop.

Photoshop automatically runs once I plug in the camera so I always use that to get the photos off the camera.
I will try to re-installing the Canon software - if I can find it!

    Thanks for the advice.
