service pack 2 for XP

i just bought a new camera canon g10

in order for me to be able to download photos to my computer i have to install service pack 2. I was on download.com and microsoft.com and searched but i can seem to find it. the ones i get are simply overviews of the pack or they are in iso. format. I downloaded this one and i cant do anything with it so i deleted it


can some tech lad/lady here please direct me in the right direction got a camera full of photos and no where to put them:)

Get service pack 3 here

Windows update would be a major pain in the hole if you're not even on SP2 yet, your best bet is the network installation of SP3
It should include everything that was in SP2 as well

woooooh now its a 300mb download and you need to get the right one

op you have to find out which windows you have...
start
control panel (switch to classic view if you have to)
system

it might say windows xp home edititon
or windows xp home edition service pack 1

if it says service pack one you can download and run service pack 3

if it doensn't mention a service pack or if you dont want service pack 3 then you can download and install service pack 2

SP3 can be installed on any version of XP though...
And if they've already downloaded an ISO, bandwidth doesn't seem to be much of an issue

Not the RTM version (no service packs). Requires a minimum of SP1. You can still slipstream SP3 into an RTM disc though.

OP sorry to go off topic,

but to download photos from any camera you can just plug the camera into a usb port and when the autoplay pops up, click import using camera and camera wizzard, no need to run the cd that came with the camera and install thier junk


but its still important to get the service pack and get your automatic updates working for you
