    Lads,

I am looking into this, are these courses any use? you need to do an exam at the very end or is it during periods?

    28 weeks long or something.

Is it Visual Basic or Visual Basic.NET? If the .NET part aint there I would hardly think it worth doing.

After that the FAS bits I would not have a clue about. Even if there is no exam at the end of the FAS course doing some side by side learning with the MS course work and then getting a MCP/MCSD or what ever they are calling them these days would be of value

    Its .NET windows programming.

I thought that this is quite common now in alot of jobs, I figured it would be worthwhile.

Actually I am more keen on C++. A Different kettle of fish but I got the C++ for dummies and am trying to make a go of it.

Its .NET its worth a shot I guess. VB6 is what would be pretty pointless at this stage.

With VB.NET you can switch to C# pretty easy any ways so your really learning two at once.

Have you any other computer qualifications ?

Our HR department wouldn't let anyone get to the interview stage if they hadn't got a degree or significant work experience.

If there's a C# version of this course then I would consider that instead.

In the .NET scheme of things both C# and VB perform the same, however syntactically C# has a lot in common with Java, C++, etc. making it easier to switch later. It is also much easier to move from C# to VB than vice versa as C# requires a more disciplined approach to programming.

The course is an online CBT type course probably produced by Thompson e learning. The exam is a for a Microsoft certification 70-306 (old, on the track for MCAD) which you pay for yourself €140.
You can access it for 28 weeks.
