I work in an engineering manufacturing company , and have just been told to tidy up all work in progress and prepare it for shipping before the end of the week which will leave basically an empty factory. The company has some financial trouble but we dont know how much sorry for being vague but what does this mean??

It sounds like you should start preparing a cv.

On the other hand the company may just want to get the jobs finished to free up some cash flow.
