boiler comming on itself

Can anyone help me, my boiler keeps comming on of its own accord,it was on all last night and the house and tank are roastin. Some said about an automatic setting for cold weather, the switch I found just turns and turns. It using up oil and cant afford to refil, any ideas would be apreciated

Sounds like it might be on a timer? Can you post the model number and maybe a picture of the switch that turns and turns (theres probably a name & model number on that too..)
