That's technically the same thing. You're thanking the original thanker.

Did you mean "thank the thanking of a thank"?

    No need to complicate it.

No, now you're thanking the person who thanked you for thanking them, it's really quite simple.

Why stop at simply thanking the thanked thanks when you could thank the thanked thanks you thanked?

    that's ridiculous, why complicate it

I want fractional thanks. I occasionally see a post that's mostly nondescript, illegible or shite, save for a great section. If I thank the whole post, it looks like I'm endorsing the bits I don't like.

A quarter-thanks would be akin to saying: I sense good in this post, but unfortunately, I cannot endorse it in it's entirety. Like a must-do-better report, really.

Think of the consequences of an exponential thanks-off.

Things could get out of hand very quickly.

Why not just send out PM's to all those who thank you with a little note telling them just how much you appreciate their thanks and maybe invite them around for a nice cup of tea.

If i could turn around quick enough I'd thank myself.

Oh wait.... I think i mean something else....

I oppose the motion. Thanking a thanks is clearly going to cause positive feedback, and far too much back-rubbing and cliqueyness. Leave as is.

This is as clear a case of racisim teh I have come accross.

If there is a "thanks" option, there should be a "no thanks" option.

    Clearly this discriminatory,IMO,IMO.

There is a "no thanks" option. Don't thank them=no thanks.

But then wouldn't you also have to have to be able to no thank a no thanks?

The fact that you do not thank a post does not mean you are saying "no thanks".

If someone murders you and I am standing there and don't do anything or say anything then my silence is construed as consent in court.

So if anything, not thanking a poast is closer to "thanking".

And if you rape me but I don't say no, it's not construed as consent in court. We can play this game all day.:) Sometimes analogies aren't necessary.

It's a simple situation. If you thank a post you are giving thanks. If you don't thank a post you are giving no thanks.

Not thanking is like thanking? Something wrong there.
