    hey guys and gals,

what are ye all playing for your practicals this year? also when are your practicals being held? hopefully your not as unlucky as i am, my practicals are on the same week as my french oral, and then my irish oral the week after :( it makes me sad.... but sure thats life.

    I'm a guitarist, i will be playin 6 pieces:
(i have a bit of a running theme going: The evolution of Guitar! :D)

50's - Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode (with my own jamming thrown in)
    60's - Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child
    80's - Yngwie J. Malmsteen - Blitzkrieg
    80's - Yngwie J. malmsteen - Rising Force
80's/90's - Gary Moore - Out in the Fields
90's - Gary Moore still got the Blues

And there is an interchangeable song (which i might switch for a malmsteen piece)

90's - Eric Johnson - Cliffs Of Dover

So that is my easy songs (first two), My complex songs (Malmsteen and Johnson), and my blues songs (gary moore)

    what are ye doin!?

Ugh.....I gave up on the maths grinds. This medicine lark is taking up all my time! :(

Anyway, on a more serious note, If I was examining a student who could play those pieces I would be extremely impressed as I am learned in the ways of the guitar. :p
However, your examiner may not have a clue as to the skill involved in sweep picking, tapping, blah, blah, blah...........
He/she may feel like they have been ear raped after Yngwie.

How about a nice tune like this???
I have an excellent backing track for it!

    Singing (badly);
    The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon
    Oasis - Wonderwall
Oasis - Don't Look Back in Anger
I don't have a 4th yet and I have nothing prepared! :( Me is gonna fail!

    I don't really know yet

    QUESTION:

would it be better to play just recorder or recorder and piano even though my piano wouldn't be perfect?

  • Registered Users Posts: 782 ✭✭✭tootyflutty

They expect a lower standard if you play two instruments, and you could probably impress them more with piano and recorder. I'd go with both, tis less stress that way in my opinion.

I'd say I'd definitely make mistakes in the piano whereas I can play the recorder perfectly. but I feel like a dunce playing just recorder :pac:

To those doing Mongoose crawl, are you playing it once through or repeating it? When i play it it comes to about 50secs, which is fairly short for one piece?
