Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Carpenters Workshop C&C

All my life I have grown up around my Dads Workshop. He's a carpenter (retired now). So... while looking for new subjects to shoot today, I got the idea. There must be hundreds of interesting weird and/or wonderful things in his workshop to shoot. I just had to look at it with a new eye. As if it was the first time I had walked in to the shed.

Here's some of the results. I decided it would be best to convert to BW and while playing around with masks (which I don't usually do), I tought it might be fun to add a splash of colour to the images.

Comment and Criticisim always welcome. The set is here in pix.ie. More will be added tomorrow. :)

selective colour suprisingly works on first two... not so much the last... maybe reduce the saturation a bit?

    Hey Dave,
Nice shots, I prefer the edited version of #3. I think #2 would look better with a tighter crop?

(I've also added a little B&W cross process...) just an idea :)
    Hope you don't mind!

I was a bit disappointed to be honest. The pix you have are very good, but when you said that it was your retired Dad's workshop, I ws kind of hoping for lovely old hand tools, belt driven lathes etc., bathed in lovely afternoon sunlight streaming though a window...maybe it was just me though :D

Thanks for the input Kyle. I agree with you. I had originally gone with the just a straight bw conversion, added a curves layer and a bit of high pass sharpen. Here's the result. Nice, I think... But I wanted to play a little and introduce the colour. I quite like the crop but I prefer the 3:2 version.

Lol.... funny. And then it's back to the real world. The machinery (not seen in the photos) are/were there to make his job easier and make some money. Most of his old hand tools and machinery got chucked the minute something better came along. Hmm..... reminds me of the photographic world. :)
