Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Charging for work?

I might have some work lined up shooting a few gigs for a music website. It's only an Irish website and I doubt they make much/any money so I don't know how to go about charging. I'm happy to shoot the gigs I'd go to anyway for free (since I'd get a free ticket) but if I'm going to be out every week I'd like some return.

Anyone here done some freelancing gig shooting and wouldn't mind sharing how much they got paid? PM me if you want to keep it confidential but would appreciate any help. I don't want to price myself out of a job but don't want to be taken advantage of either.

150-200 EUR per gig, usually 1-2 hours.

This will turn into the same old argument about how much Photography is overcharged/worth their salt debate.

It is a matter of balance. Balance what you would like to get, with how much time/resources it will take, with how much you want the job, with how much you think they can afford.

In the vast majority of cases, there is NO FIXED amount. You make your own judgement call and price it accordingly.

If you are going to be paid for the work then make sure you have Insurance to cover you. We went through this with reccomendations recently in this thread. It would be worth reading the advice there.

It would also worthwhile to get things sorted out with the website in writing what they expect from you & also concerning issues relating to use of the images. I assume you will be retaining copyright but granting them permission to use them on their site. It may be prudent to think about limits of that use.

Then it's a matter of working out your costs & adding a bit on for a drink, assuming you are just doing this for experience.
