That is a fine and tasty looking sangwich. Expensive?

I haven't read this thread in ages so not sure was it mentioned recently, but I have to give a vote to Papaz on Denmark Street. Ive been in there 2 or 3 times for lunch in the last few weeks and it's fantastic. Up there with the best in the city I'd say, worth a try for anybody who was never there!!

I've still never had a meal in there, and one of my best friends has been recommending it to me for ages! Might use it for a lunch date sometime soon.

I had my first visit to Taikichi last night and I already love the place. Spring roll, followed by teriyaki duck. I enjoyed them both but I'll be more adventurous next time. The Dragon Roll is one of the most impressive-looking things I've ever seen on a plate.

I know it's not a restaurant per-se, but I feel the need to discourage anyone from having a pizza in Cobblestone Joes...was in there for a few scoops last night (good pints btw - especially the Franciscan Well Rebel Red) and our table ordered 3 pizzas. What arrived were 3 of the greasiest pizzas I've gotten in a long time. The lack of meat toppings was also a sore point. I'm no food critic, and I'm not expecting the standard of pizza one would get from La Cucina/Da Vincenzo/etc in a pub, but these pizzas were worse than fast-food fare. Will be going back again as Cobblestones is a decent pub - live music, good pints, but will be staying well clear of their pub grub.

That's strange. I had a few pizzas in cobblestone and thought they were top notch. Maybe a little of the greasy side alright but nice and tasty. Certainly well above 90% of fast food places in town.

Not sure if mentioned here before but the deal in the strand hotel is excellent and the food is great. It's 3 Courses and a bottle of wine for 2 people and costs €50. They were only doing it on a Thursday at one stage but seem to be running it Sun-Thurs 6-7pm now.

Bobby Byrnes do something similiar. 2 tapas and 2 mains plus a bottle of wine for 49. Sun to Thur. Menu is limited however. Does anybody think their number 1 rating on tripadvisor is justified? Last time I was there it was very good PUB food, but I had the exact same meal a few months previously and thought it was very poor.

As part of attempted exposure therapy for my hate/fear for carvery, I said I'd try Bobby Byrnes due to its reputation. If any place was gonna change my mind, they would right?

    I still hate carvery.

I've always found it strange that they've occupied the No.1 slot for so long. No doubt it's very good pub grub, but it is in the category of "Restaurants" and there are much finer restaurants to be found in Limerick. Maybe it's a bit of an indictment on Limericks restaurants that one of them isn't number one. I'm not sure I'd even rank Bobby Byrnes as No.1 in the specialist pub-grub sector...the Curragower probably nicks it for me.

Bobby Byrnes has an awful lot of gushing reviews from first times posters with no surnames on TA. Like.

The "popularity" of the Locke is also a surprise.

Only eaten in there twice, pizzas on both occasions and found them fine. Based on my own experiences I'd have no difficulty in eating in there again.

Bobby Byrnes is fine. But it's run of the mill pub grub. Didn't know it was the top ranking on Trip Advisor, but it really shouldn't be in the top 10 or even the top 20.

Their TripAdvisor rating is obviously doctored.

I was in the Hi-Way of all places during the week. Hadn't been there in years and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty, the staff were nice and the prices were reasonable. Might take a trip back again soon actually.

I know it's not Limerick but I happened to be in Ennis today and we went into yolo for lunch. Christ almighty, absolutely terrible wouldn't even cover it. If ye are in Ennis and want a bite, just don't.

it's bogman food for a bogman town! i kinda like the chicken kiev tbh, just a hearty feed. lot of ****e there though alright, menu huge. definitely not high class dining by any stretch!

    I wouldn't eat anywhere called yolo :D

I had Sunday lunch in the Woodfield House on the Ennis Road. The chicken wings starter are delicious. It's a big portion in buffalo sauce, much nicer than the Cornstore in my opinion. The roast lamb main was a bit dissapointing, it was fine but nothing special.

They're gone, can't remember the name of the new restaurant in there.

    The Buttery
Met a buddy on Bedford row & decided to have a cuppa. Went to order in the buttery & told it was a 25 minute wait for 1 tea & 1 coffee! Granted it was busy(12 pm Saturday) but c'mon! Needless to say didn't wait around..

Pity about Amber the food was delish and guaranteed no msg. Can anyone recommend a decent Chinese takeaway that deliver then? Wasn't overly impressed with Hong Kong the last time.

Food is pretty good if a little expensive but the place is always JAMMED!

Got a pulled pork bap in there yesterday, portion was small and pulled pork was cold in spots and definitely overpriced.

Got a soup and brown bread for daughter which was reasonable in fairness.

Can'y say Im a fan of the buttery for this reason. It's just so noisy in there it's nigh impissible to hold a conversation with anyone there.

Amber wasn't a chinese it was an asian restaurant. They did a mix of cuisines not just chinese. They closed after christmas however are still open in ennis so if you ever in clare or fancy a change it would be worth a trip there just for their food. I can recommend Mr Noodle on thomas street in limerick for similiar food
