Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,

I am still searching for windows Alu Clad and have not had any luck yet. All the southern suppliers are looking for mad money. I have found one in Sligo who is reasonably priced.

Anyone used a supplier/fitter for Alu Clad up the north? Help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

Hi, Did you manage to find any good companies in the north? I am also looking for this type of window; and have had some pricing from a company in omagh, one in the moy and another in north donegal; but would like to get some more quotes as my windows are pretty bespoke.

Please let me know if you have chosen a supplier yet?

    Thanks

Just to advise people that there are loads of good window/glazing supply companies both here and in N.I. Just because the company concerned is in NI doesn't mean that you wont get as good a deal elsewhere.

Don't rely solely on one single company. Shop around for prices and look for recommendations from other people who have just recently built.

I got no replies to my request for information but have contacted up to 10 different Irish suppliers for AluClad windows ranging from €25k to €44k. In fairness I only got one €44k quote, the second highest quote was €32k. Most hovering around the €28k mark!

Some of the reps from the bigger well known suppliers were banging about how you can't compare a BMW to a Ford - nothing wrong with a Ford in my opinion! The sky is the limit if you have the money. Unfortunately I don't!

Anyway it seems we'll be sourcing our windows in the republic!

In the same boat as yourselves and currently looking far & wide for alu clad windows quotes. Have received quotes both nationally & internationally (poland, austria, estonia), Prices ranging from 31k - 72k. Pity about the transport costs as international quotes are reasonable.

Chances are you would have a good idea of the differences between a B*M and a F*rd. but would you know the significant differences between R*ti*nel and M*rv*n windows?
Unfortunately many window sales people know bugger all about their own products never mind other window systems so are not best equipped to compare the relative merits of differing windows.

With any window I would recommend checking; the lineage of the window (lots of people have piled into outward opening windows in the last few years), the certification and equally important check who you are dealing with should things go pear shaped. Would you spend €30k+ on a brand new B*W from eastern Europe without a dealer warranty?
