    Hi there,
I have 6 GX53 bulbs in my kitchen and they keep blowing.
They actually start to melt the plastic covering when they go.

Has anyone seen similar to this or any idea why it would happen?

They are all wired up to a single switch and a couple of them are
wired into a junction box (sorry if this is the wrong term).

    Any ideas?

if they are melting the plastic...bin them...this could cause a fire.
heat build up means that its faulty( loose parts or just old), some part of them maybe arching, this where the electricty jumps between two parts, and causes heat.
is there a weird smell off them? get somebody to look at this junction box, (are you sure its not the fuse board)

When you say wiring do you mean the wiring under the counter
or out to the main fuse box?

Sorry there are 8 not 6.
    2 single
    2 into a junction
    4 into a junction

I got rid of the ones that blew, I think they melted the plastic
as they blew if you know what I mean.
