Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Did you consider the 36mm OP in black when you were buying?

Yes and no. I thought about it but know that I really think 36mm is too small in watches (except in a Datejust for some reason) so I went with the 39. I'm coming to the conclusion that 38mm is perhaps the ideal size...but nobody does it.

I'm seriously considering a 36mm OP for my next piece. The 36mm and 39mm Oyster perpetual are the best looking Rolex out there at the moment.

Im saying this 2 months after getting an Explorer 39mm much like yourself.

My take on 36 vs 39 is it all depends on the size of the bezel. The OP bezel is not large so 36 looks OK (I tried one on but preferred the 39). But the large bezel on the Submariner tends to make the dial look small.

Nice. Loving the early Trench watch look and with the movable lugs.

Very hard to get a nice auto ladies watch. Ingersoll don’t make this one anymore so it took me nearly 3 years to track it down :)

Well since women wore wristwatches long before men did and they often looked like this, it was kinda appropriate that you should get it in the end. :) Well may you wear SP.

Lass from 1905. Rocking a wristwatch. Or "wristlet" as they were known. Not suitable for men. Oh no. :D

    3338198033_fd588d17a8_b.jpg

She doesn't have the fancy swing lugs of yours mind you. :)

    Here's a 1917 Zenith* with those lugs.

    464780.jpeg

So a long design history you have there on your wrist. And funny enough the most "true" to form "Ladies watch" you could wear. Can't go wrong really SP.

*Not mine sadly, though I do have a couple of Longines with swinging lugs from that time.

I thought I’d buck the Michael Kors ladies watch trend ;)

That Zenith is beautiful. The lugs on mine don’t actually swing, they’re fixed.

My last watch was a 1901 beauty that was a pocket watch but was converted to a wristwatch. My parents had it fixed for me for my 21st birthday and I wore it to death.

Then, along came my daughter many years later and over wound it. I brought it back to watchmakers and he told me they no longer can get parts to fix it so I’ll have to go further to have it repaired.

In the meantime, I’m loving the Ingersoll. No bells and whistles just simple.

Thanks for all the info and the pics! :)

I have my grandads pocket watch which I too, over wound. Must get pictures and when I last looked there were whole movements available on eBay. I know a good horologist to do the work, just need the funds and to remember at a better time than 1am.

I did chuckle when I opened it to have a nosey. Gold case/chain/sovereign and the cheapest movement possible inside.

Both your watches are gorgeous and the broken one deserves to be repaired.

A "friend in Krakow" you say Mr M? Looks like someone who does very nice work. May look for their name from you. BTW Mr M, bloody cool Walco you have there. Very stylish.

Polish watchmakers are renowned for their skill. Yep. Put it another way and on a more dubious note, the very best fakes/marriages/put togethers on eBay and the Interwebs are Polish in origin. They know their shizzle.

Made in Hong Kong and shipped from there. The Armida A1 42 is from USD349 incl shipping but excluding Irish duties / VAT. It has an ETA 2824-2 movement. All the details on their website

    Linky

Beautiful watch is right! And reasonably priced. On a par with Steinhart entry levels also with the ETA 2824-2.And you will never meet anyone else that ones one :D

No you're right. The A1 45 has the ETA 2824-2, but it starts at USD699 - all of a sudden not such a good value watch anymore, but not outrageous either

    The A1 42 has the Seiko NH35

Ah in fairness I picked it up on adverts for a lot less than the RRP in as new condition with the two extra straps so I can't complain really! I just presumed they used ETA movement across the board.

For the 30 odd I paid for it very happy with it but it does have 2 minor issues.

Firstly, the rotor is pretty noisy.

Secondly, there is lume on the dial but nothing on the hands which is baffling. Just do both or none.

This is going to be like my other Chinese watch. Wear for a while and then disassemble and learn how they work.

I've wanted a seiko samurai for a long time. Saw these limited edition one recently and loved the colours, but they were all sold out. I just did a random search a few days ago in case anyone had got any more back in stock and found that I could buy it straight from seiko.

That really is nice not a bad price either considering it's a ltd ed. If I wasn't skint I'd nearly go into my overdraft but the wife would kill me. I've a dslr I need to sell this might be the kick up the hole I need to go to the bother!

Better selection of mechanical than there used to be. The Seiko 5's are still way overpriced twice what you'd pay online but some of the higher end stuff isn't too much more especially if you managed to get 10% off in the Jewellers.

Needs a new strap (the patent leather is giving me first communion flashbacks) but overall I think it's a beautiful watch.
