We hadn't tried the restore before hand but just tried it there and got an error. She's gonna contact the seller on ebay and hope for the best.

restore/upgrade basically is the same. Check what baseband it is. If its 06.15.00 your friend couldn't update it in iTunes. Is it still jailbroken and is ultrasn0w still installed? Have you tried turning it off and back on?

As far as I know apple are still signing 4.1 on the 3GS for some reason. Your best bet would be to downgrade to 4.1 using snow breeze as you wont get any errors from iTunes on the 6.15.00 baseband.

Is there any jailbreak available that doesn't require a full restore? Greenpoison allowed this but they don't have a 5.01 jailbreak yet.

i've just jailbroken my ipad 2 using Absinthe.app on a dell studio 1747 windows machine using VMWares virtual machine running OSX.

Its beautiful seeing the cydia app on it going from a iphone 3g. stuff loads instantly from cydia and no problems occured during the jailbreak.

Donating to the team once i'm over the excitement.

I'm using Windows and it doesn't look like the release is coming too soon.

Could I just run it off of my sisters MacBook and plug in my iPhone?
Or does Absinthe require my iTunes library, synced data, etc.

I don't know if I'll need to use the programme again, so I wanna be sure if I do it off the MacBook I wont need to keep going back for stuff.

You can simply jailbreak from her MacBook, doesn't involve iTunes at all, backup you iPad 1st I case, there has been reports of photo library disappearing after jailbreak

Just finished the A5 windows jailbreak on my 4S. It looks to have been successful so far.

I jailbroke my 4S using the Windows supported CLI releeased today.

Cydia runs a dream and the servers are not overloaded.

This is how you use CLI in case people are not aware.



1) plug your device and do a full backup off your ipad on itunes
2) run cmd.exe as an admin
3) cd to cinject_0.4.3 directory
4) execute : cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig
5) execute : cinject.exe -j payloads
if you get an error "fatal(__LINE__): assertion failed (1266): got == sizeof(size)" you'll have to reset your ipad ==> go to settings --> General --> Reset --> Erase All Content and Settings
then go back to step 4
6) execute : cinject.exe -w
7) toggle the VPN switch in settings

Your ipad will reboot and cydia should be installed!!

I had my iphone4 jailbroken and unlocked on iOS 4.3.3 and was using a Gevey for the unlock, my son was playing with it and updated it through iTunes to 5.0.1, is there any unlock on the horizon for this?.

The phone was bought in the states, any help appreciated.

I just can't do it!

Keep getting this error message after entering
cinject -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig

"The procedure entry point xmlTextReaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml.dll."

and in the cmd screen it says:

"Couldn't load c:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\MobileDevice.dll\"

Any one else getting this? More importantly is there a fix?

no just go to settings>reset>reset all data
when you restored did you set up as a new phone or restore from backup

My 4s is restored from backup of 3gs

that will bring you back to square one just erase all content and settings from the phone and when it's jb you can sync everything back

Try redownloading the jailbreak again to rule out corrupted files.
