Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got dragged to Fight Like Apes last night in DCU. Wasn't a fan of them up until last night - best live show Id seen in a good while. Great fun altogether!

Thankfully I had the camera in the car and their manager was cool with me shooting - Unfortunately the battery only lasted for 2 songs. Regardless, here's some of the pics!

that first pic is ace. might have been cool to have captured their bodies also but I understand that you might have been too close to do so.

Yeah, I agree! Only had the 50mm lens with me, though. Pain in the hoop, but Im happy with one or two of the lot!

There was so many oppertunities for great band shots, had I a wider lens with me, like when she started attacking the bar with an empty crate, but considering I was shooting at 1.8 and with an iso of 1600, you can guess how dark it was!

Colblimp- nice pic of the colourful houses. Some nice ones down the docks on your pix.ie site. It's a bit offputing that anyone has to create an account just to leave a comment on pix.ie
It takes 3 secs and tbh I hate regging with sites but Pixies is easier than going to the loo after a nights heavy drinking.
There would be far too much spam and abuse of the voting system if there was no regging tbh.

Thanks. Yeah at the bank. I had to get the sign in and nearly got a bonk on the head for my troubles. Just took 3 shots on the off chance and they all came out ok. On the print the sign is clear as...Loses a little in translation to computer I suppose.

it was quite murky, with a purply haze out in bull island last night. took this shot as boy racers were set on destroying their drivetrains by trying to pull handbrake turns on the sand behind me.

second is the same, but with a bit of tweaking in PS to lower the saturation for a murkier feel.

just noticed that theres a bit of distortion around the chimney stacks after downsizing the image. this isn't on the original. :(

nilhg, what type of lens are you using for that bee shot?

The original image I took of my associate was absolutely awful (some might say this isn't much better!) with terrible colour balance. Thankfully I managed to get something I liked after messing about with a gradient map and adjusting the contrast and brightness:

I went to Bettystown this evening. i was in search of the remnants of a wreck but didn't happen across it (where is it - does it need to be very low tide to see it or something?

    Anyway:

Any advice on how I could have shot or edited this better would be much appreciated :)
It was taken on my camera phone so I didn't have much choice when it came to settings, but if advice comes my way I'll absorb it for when I actually take my poor dslr out of its bag.

This guy has been hanging around the bird feeder outside my office, I know when he arrives as he is the loudest of the lot that hangs around the feeder.

I caught him today trying to land on the feeder.

That was just a fraction of them, they kept trying to storm in!
On 1 hand I do be glad when they get in and steal whatever they get their hands on, Esso make massive obscene profits yet still only pay the minimum wage to their staff.
I took this from the inside of my car which has a filthy windscreen and I cannot believe how good the picture came out after allowing for that and I added lots of contrast which greatly helped.
