Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

OK, but look at Animal Rights' post a while later; "That was just a fraction of them, they kept trying to storm in!" I rest my case... ;)

Hasselblad 500C/M, it's film for the moment, I might be tempted to get a digital back... at some stage.

Oh, it's ok, the 'blad is broken down anyways - I'm not going to create any mad Large-Hadron-Collider-style effects over Inchicore any time soon :pac:

    mmmh,
Are the shots to help you reassemble it afterwards?
Does a a thread on "small objects of desire" sound like a good idea, y'know each of snaps our favorite treasure and post it up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

No, the shots are just to distract me for another 12 hours until I get (another) smaller screwdriver that might pop open a screw to the left of the one in focus

It's (probably speaking too soon) a relatively simple operation inside there if all is going well, the main guts are just covered up with a small plate, and it's possible to work away from there. Unfortunately, it's 'hard jammed' as opposed to 'soft jammed' - Which would be a lot... LOT... easier to fix!

Objects of desire sounds good :)

    Unfortunately, it's 'hard jammed'
...can you even attempt to oil it ? or use a small vice-grips ?

    Anyways, I'm the firestarter !
( I was putting a 'little' petrol into a biscuit-tin and firing it at the base of the fire, mad effect, BUT HIGHLY dangerous ! )

Gotta keep all lubes outta there, it's right beside the glass element on the lens that's jammed on to it, and I wouldn't like to get anything mucky around there! :)

The head's also about 4/5mm wide, and up against a division (along with being 2 inches into the body), so vice grips are out too...

    Ah I'll get there! :D

If it's not going to disturb anything else, you could alway try 'freezing' the screw with a can of air. Just make sure it's clean air, not lubricated. You should pick some up in Maplins. Just spray onto the head through an extention tube. It may be enough to contract it veeeeery slightly and loosen it.

Or a very careful flamethrower for the opposite effect:eek::pac:

.......liquid nitrogen, we've LOADS of it here in work !!!

Hmmm... I managed to unjam and remove the lens...

Second hand bodies are looking cheap enough - I can get the exact same as what I have now, except in chrome and with a waist level viewfinder (I went straight for the prism)... Or I can go for the electronic model for less... Decisions, decisions... If I can't get it repaired myself, or it'll cost a bomb to get repaired in Dublin, I might just buy the second hand one - Includes guarantee and all...

I took a slightly less soft one too, but there was nothing special/interesting/intriguing about it, so i left it out... Kinda threw in this extreme one instead.

    And thanks!
I kinda blew out the saturation in the last one and well today due to the lack of random subjects to photograph, i had to get creative and start focusing on everyday details!
