I was in London yesterday at a fantastic exhibition of work by Philippe Plisson, Art Wolfe and Charlie Waite.

Afterwards I went playing with the London Eye. Although I'm none too happy with most of what I got, this was in the harvest.

Today has been a bit of a write off and now I need tea as a matter of urgency.

Revisited my Dad's workshop today. Here's some of the pics. All shot with ISO 3200 on the 40D without a tripod. I tried something new with the PP too. :)The full set is here on pix.ie.

It's a nice look. Just playing around really. But here's what I did in a few steps in Photoshop.
    1. Select from the Layer menu, New Adjustment Layer, Gradient Map.
    2. Drop the opacity down a little. Say between 80% to 85% and select OK.
    3. In the next dialog, choose the third one from the gradient presets. The black to white one. Then select OK.
    4. Select from the Layer menu, New Adjustment Layer, Curves.
    5. Select the drop down, Choose Soft light and Click OK.
    6. Then Play around with the resulting curve display with slight movements till you are happy with the result.
    Hope this helps.

    Dave OS

Edit: Forgot one thing. I added a large dark vignette to achieve the final look.

Just back from my weekend of playing with the D40. I'm really samazed at how good it is. I like how light is too. Even the kit lens is really good considering its "just" a kit lens. I shot these two with the D40 and the Nikon 105mm 2.8 Macro.

I'm working/re-working this panorama at the mo, the original is 14,000pixels wide, and I'd love to get it printed, but I'm just not happy with any crop I've done on it yet, it seems a little messy !!!
This is the squished version !
