    fair enough.

maybe i was blinded by his 50-yard cross field passing at the start of the game. maybe he does that all the time and i should just accept it. i still find that kind of play impressive. ah sure.

i didn't notice him making many mistakes, but hey, we all miss things during games.

didn't think he had a stinker either way though. just not his best. but then again only giggs really reached a particularly high level i thought.

wait, i remember one dodgy pass on the halfway line leading to an inter breakaway attack :pac:

    v funny.

no need tbh. i was trying to be honest about what i saw. if you're in a pub, chatting to mates, you miss things. the last line of the post is an edit after i had posted the rest.

i didnt say anything worth ridicule thanks.

Don't get how you could really say his pasing was terrible. He played 50% more passes in the first half than Alonso did in his entire contribution to the game against Madrid, and with a much higher completion rate too. (just picking Alonso as he is the only guys stats I saw from the Real game, and would be considered to be a great passer.

If Ibrahimovic played for United or Liverpool or Chelsea or Arsenal, with that shíte record of never having scored in the CL knockout stages, he'd be fúcking slated all over this forum.

    And rightly so.

He's living off a name he made for himself six or seven years ago.

He may be good in the Serie A, but that means fúck all.

    He's shíte.

    Pure and simple.

All the fancy touches and flicks in the world don't matter a ****.

I know it's going back a bit but I just saw this and all I can say is thank fúck someone else said it. Couldn't believe the bandwagoners before this tie and the shít they were coming out with about how class Ibrahimovic is.

Come on now lads and admit it - ye saw him playing for Ajax twice about ten years ago didn't ye? What a crock of shít that man is...

Good result considering we were abysmal at times yesterday. We rode our luck on far too many occasions for comfort. If that happens again on Saturday I'll soil myself.

Carrick and Ferdinand were shìt last night. I'm surprised Carrick wasn't brought off at half time to be honest. He had a nightmare of a game. Ferdinand was shaky as hell. I think it had a bit of a knock on effect, Vidic was making a few errors as well. Apart from that everybody was average with the exception of Giggs and O'Shea who I thought had a rather decent game, its just a pity he didn't bury that chance in the first half. Wonderful move, all it needed was a finish.

Glad its out of the way now so we can concentrate on getting rid of the Liverpool title challenge on Saturday. We will really need to up our game though.

    Wft was that?

    Very strange United display.

But to put it in perspective we played some world class football in Milan and didn't score, we didn't get out of first gear last night and scored 2 could have had possibly 4/5.

PS. I thought everyone knew Pighead was a United supporter?

To me Giggs had a shocking first half, but came good in the second half. I don't know wether you can blame him or SAF though. He didn't seem to have any kind of position in the first half and our left flank was getting exposed time and time again because there was no cover out there.

I think regarding Scholes the stats tell a little lie to me. He made some really bad errors during the game. Some very simple balls going astray, and I remember him getting caught in position about a yard outside his box. Most of his long balls in the first half just were not of the same quality that we are used. Instead of dropping at Ronaldos feet they were dropping on his head.

The performance could be a blessing in disguise. I think Fergie would have read them the riot act both at half time, and either after the game or this morning. Hopefully this will result in a big improvement on Saturday.

    stats tell a little lie

It just goes to show that people who constantly rattle out stats to win arguments are nothing more than Sky-worshipping imbeciles.

Scholes was shocking last night. Not by "his own standards" or any tripe like that, he just had an extremely bad game.

Misplacing the vast majority of the important passes, and some of the sideways and backward balls too.

86% completion rate. What the fúck does that even mean? Any clown can pass a ball a few yards and up that stat.

It's hardly rocket science - Of the passes he attempted, 86% went to a team member. E.g. Try 100 passes, 86 of them will be successful. It's just an indication of passing accuracy.

How do you quantify 'the vast majority of the important passes'?!

Scholes distribution is continually impressive, granted he had a bad game last night with a few passes from memory ending on the head as opposed to the foot of a team mate, but he moves the ball 50-60 yards at a time, normally instigating attack and rarely gets caught in possession.

To say he had "an EXTREMELY bad game" is ridiculous.

Thats the thing last night especially in the first half he didn't instigate attacks.

He did get caught with some lax short balls.

He did get caught in possession.

    He had a bad game.

This by no means a get rid of Scholes attack but he had a bad game last night.

That stat is bumped by short balls, and I believe balls that landed on peoples heads still counted as a completed pass when in fact the ended up giving possession away. Watch the game and form opinions, don't rely on stats.

    Mr Roger Bongos.

    Stop being so bleedin sensitive.

Fúck me, there are too many people on this forum who take the slightest criticism of a player on a team they support as a very personal affront.

Scholes had a poor game last night.

If you can't see that, then frankly, your red tinted spectacles are probably so inoperabley pinned to your face that there is no point arguing with you.

Scholes was not at the races last night, simple as.

Any clown interested in football with half a brain could see it.

delighted to go through last night.

performance was bad, the only player who played well imo was giggsy.

Scholes played a lot of loose passes and gave away possession a lot, by his standards it was a poor game from him

If the Mourinho-fan thing is true he can kiss goodbye any chances of the UTD job!

He beats us to the Champions League, then the title, he makes fun of our players, he (allegedly) punches our fans. Yet I still couldn't say I dislike him. Damn his charisma.

I said in the middle of my post 'granted he had a bad game last night'!

I have the match sky plus'ed, i watched it again this morning and i don't think your opinion - "he had an extremely bad game" is justified.

He did have an extremely bad game.

He gave away possession in really dangerous areas last night and if Inter had have scored as a result of one of those then I bet your view of his overall performance would be different.

In truth though pretty much everyone played bad but we did what we've been doing a lot of this season and ground out the result.

Referring to the first half, Ferguson said that Giggs "had one of those nights when he was not so great passing". He was also unusually critical of Scholes. "He started absolutely fantastic but had a period when he started to give the ball away frivolously. That opened the door for Inter and they started to counter-attack us. In the second half we played more like a European team. It's something we had to drum into the players - that in Europe possession of the ball is so important. I thought they forgot that in the first half."

Now for Sir Alex to come out and openly criticise his own players shows how bad he thought they were in my opinion.

so for the latter part of the first half utd (scholes in particular) gave the ball away a bit, and inter got at you.

second half utd were better at keeping the ball, and the passing was better.

    sounds about right.

to say they (including scholes) were 'awful', which has been alluded to, is absurd.
