Chipper opposite St Johns Church ..... maybe the Golden Fryer or something
Alice and Philomena in the shop at the park

The French Friar actually, owned by Anna Jennings who had the cake shop "Annas" at the corner of Johns Lane opposite St Johns Church.

Philomena was the name of the guesthouse, the 3 sisters were Alice, Sheila & Peg (Margaret). Occasionally the 4th sister Siobhan used visit & do a stint in the shop.

Try & get it somewhat right Revvy........;)

What about Johnny Forty Coats (used feed the pidgeons at the clock tower) & Anklesocks (don't ask....)

Six League of Ireland titles in seven years, the era when every second Sunday approx 10,000 would be at a game in Kilcohan Park (was at a League of Ireland game against Shamrock Rovers in Milltown when there were 23,000 in attendance the first year Waterford won the league in 1966).

    FAI Cup in 1937 & 1980

Waterford Athletic Stores in Peter St (now City Sq) owned by Peter Bryan one of Waterford's great full backs in the league winning seasons.

    Arundel ballroom in same location.

Garda station at back of Tower Hotel opposite the Coloseum Cinema

Graves in Michael St (now AIB Bank) & also on the Park Road

Tedcastles coal Yard beside Park (Maritana House now)

I thought it was Saint Philomena's rather than 'Philomena'. :)

I think the track was called Goff track (I believe Mr Goff was a keen and wealthy cyclist who built it). It was state of the art when built in the late 1800's. I used to race on it as a kid.

    the Royal Bar

The Queens, Sean Kings and the Hibernian,

Used to share a house in Mall lane. I could get to all four and into Brennans chipper and be home in minutes..on a tenner !

One night in '88 the lane flooded. as did the house..The 'Quay River' came in the front door. We slipped out the back onto the roof into the Kings and stayed until the tide went out. or we were to well oiled to notice it had come in. O'Mearas had it then.

No, I remember that, I think it was converted to apartments or something, theres a pub next to it. They had an indoor soccer area as well and they used a weird green fuzzy football.
