Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there such a thing as a hard drive that you can connect your camera to and transfer pics, without the use of a PC?

I have a 40d if that's any help. Eirlink that epson 4000 is sort of what I'm looking for, not sure if I need the screen though. Are there any ones like that with bigger storage?

Or maybve a there's a gizmo out there somewhere that acts as a mini PC between the camera and a regular external harddrive?

i use one of these Flashpac units
    http://www.wolverinedata.com/index.php/site/quicklinks/C13/

not exactly the camera to the device, but just slip the memory card out of it and into the flashpac and in a couple of minutes all your pictures are copied across

i don't use it as a sole storage device, don't delete what's on your memory card till you've backed up your pictures again but it's a great device to have so not to worry about losing memory cards after an important shoot

Lots of netbooks have 160Gb drives, and don't cost much more than some of those backup units. I suppose it comes down to whether the extra benefits of the computer would compensate for the slight bit more weight.
