Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Trezeguet on from the start this time could cause Chelsea a few problems no doubt.

Some scoreline from Bayern. Anyone know the record for the knock out stages?

Essien's first start since his injury and he gets a goal, very nice :)

German Media describes the first half from Sporting with two words: "comical Defending". Bayern even fielded a second string team today. Sporting must be really bad.

In the first game Bayern was on the rope for 45 minutes, and then Sporting just broke apart after conceiding the first goal after a counterattack.

Bayern have been a lot of peoples dark horses this season. I said they sent out a big message after the first leg but was dismissed on here by some !

Oh my, I thought Real Madrid were bad. But to lose 7-1 to a second string team while already 5-1 down is shocking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Well I for one dont want Bayern when the names come out of the had in 10 days time.

I watched the second half of the Chelsea Juve game and Chelsea were impressive for most of it. They have really improved since the arrival of Hiddink.
I like that Giovinco lad for Juve, first time I seen him play and he looks special.
I was just thinking when Alex came off, I'd imagine it will be hard to hold on to him next season as he is a fantastic centre half and he is only third choice there.

Well done to Bayern! Some teams clearly shouldn't be in the CL. A gusty win by Chelsea, Villareal through.

Bayern will be one to be avoided in the next round, methinks.

What was Chiellini sent off for? Was there a yellow for the handball that led to the penalty? Why was Trezeguet?

Giovinco would be great if he was four inches taller.

Bayern Munich's 12-1 aggregate win over sorry Sporting is the biggest margin of victory in Champions League history.

Chiellini was sent off for a harsh second yellow for a foul on Drogba when it looked like he got the ball. No yellow for the Belletti hand ball for the peno. No yellow for Cech wasting time. No yellow for Ballack kicking the ball away.
    I hate chelsea

I don't exactly know what he was sent off for. If it was him in the tackle, well it looked like he got the ball but all we seen on the tv was him getting a second yellow and off after the ball had went dead. Don't understand what happened there.

Trezeguet being taken off was a real head scratcher for me, I don't understand that move when it was clear they needed goals, you'd imagine they would sacrifice somebody in midfield and just start pumping it long.

Juve were good but Chelsea really had that killer instinct that the Old Lady hadn't. Trezeguet tried his best but his best years are far behind him.

Giovinco started shaky but showed a lot of promise. Del Piero wasn't great TBH.

Bayern Munich are awesome this year. Bundesliga might finally be getting stronger :)
