There's a place based in Tallaght does repairs. Can't find a link, I think it's called Phone Expo.

there's also a place on Georges St that a few of my friends had their regular ipods fixed in and were very happy with the experience. I reckon they might help you.

I'll find out what it's called if you're interested.

Just spoke to my friend there but unfortunately they could remember the name of the shop. Apparently they were given directions to it in the "Back to the future" shop which is at 77 Aungier Street. They seemed to remember it was about a minutes walk north after turning right onto Aungier st. from Cuffe st.

They said it was very distinctive looking, spare parts spread out all over the small shop.

Sorry about the terrible directions, hope you get it sorted!

I've done this, it wasn't easy but is possible. Think I posted info here somewhere, maybe on mobiles. ifixit do a good step by step, the youtube videos miss important steps and you need a couple of tools and a heat gun.

Have a look at ifixit or post pics of what state its currently in and I'll talk you through it..

    edit - found my post

o2 or apple don't replace screens if you drop and break them, why would they?? If you have insurance you can claim on that.

If not, you have a couple of options. Parts are easily available to buy online.

get on to applecare and pay to have it fixed ~ €250 think is miniumum charge

Buy a full replacement touchscreen and lcd ~ $250 refurbished.

    Relatively easy replacement job.

If just the touchscreen is broken, you can buy a new one for around €60
and replace it yourself. This is difficult. I recently did one.

The touchscreen is glued/taped to the plastic part the contains speaker
and home button getting them apart requires
a heat gun and a lot of effort which can warp the plastic and be difficult
to put back together with new screen.

ifixit have the best how to but their price is a little high.

Here is what the one I finally got off looked like..
