Nearly full strength team from Liverpool.

I think that sort of team could really really hurt Liverpools defence. Those 6 attacking players are basically the best movers and passers of the ball in the United team. The movement in that front 4 is really something else. Carrick pulling the springs and Anderson driving forward should create a nice balance. This should be fun game because that United team is attack attack attack with pace a plenty.

It'll be mostly Anderson vs. Mascherano I'd say, Carrick will up against Lucas I'd imagine, with Gerrard dropping deep to annoy Carrick some more.

Pretty much the line up I expected, though I thought Fletcher would play ahead of Anderson. I'm happy though - a lot of energetic players (Park, Ando, Tevez, Rooney etc).

even without Xabi i'm not too worried about United's midfield. Anderson has impressed me no more than Lucas this season. Of course, he'll have a stormer today.

Ando to boss Gerrard? That may make sense if Gerrard was actually a proper midfielder, the fact that he is all over the place means he is very hard to mark out of a game.

Alonso is a huge loss, I think we're in trouble with Lucas playing. He should have gave Jay Spearing a run out. I have money on Mascherano to be first booked

Does every player have to be measured in assists or goals? He's a hard tackler and does alot of the ground work for united in midfield. He might not get the assist but I'm sure he's been involved in plenty of buildups.

Jay Spearing is about 10% the player Lucas is. Queue the jokes about how bad Spearing must be . . . blah blah . . .

Well Lucas is an extremely accomplished passer, has good touch, works hard, is good in the air, isn't a hard tackler, but can steal the ball quite effectively. He's very understated, and extremely underrated.

Yup Spearing who has played 30 minutes of senior football should have been picked for his first senior start at Old Trafford ahead of full Brazilian international Lucas who has played 60 times for Liverpool. That sounds like a very wise decision.

As a united fan i can quite honestly say i would love it if Rafa had put Spearing in there in the biggest game of the season for liverpool instead of Lucas, (a guy who actually has shown he can play at this level)
