Hi all,

What is the usual/standard timeframe given to building contractors to respond when giving out a tender document. This is of course for a domestic building with all drawings/specifications attached in document.Would 2 weeks be sufficient time with a "submissions required by no later that date "style covering letter attached?

Two weeks is not enough time. I'd say 3 weeks min.

general rule of thumb:

less time to cost = more PC sums

allow them the time to source and price what you specify.

I went out to tender and gave 6 weeks for return of quotation.

As said before, give them enough time to price it properly and there will be less complications over spec/money later on.
