Kilkenny Flying and Gliding Club, while still officially active for licenced members, is not currently offering flying lessons or trial flights.

The two active training organisations/clubs based at Kilkenny Airfield on the Tullaroan road are the Recreational Flying Club (specialising in Group A training) and Irish Aero Sports (specialising in Group M flying training in fixed and flex wing aircraft.

Train Station: Gets you quickly to Dublin or Cork. Which are much more fun.

If Dublin was more fun, I'd still be living there!

On that note though, from last week there are extra rail services to Dublin and from Dublin which I think Iarnród Éireann deserve a pat on the back for. All we need now is a couple of services that don't go to Dublin and we'd be laughing.

Honestly, I can't wait to move back to Dublin. Kilkenny lacks vibrancy, mainly due to its small population, not its lack of energy.

There's no bar on site this week and sure it would be nice to slake your thirst with your favourite tipple. All within reason of course.

Went to see Architects of Air in Kilkenny Castle grounds today. Well worth a visit for us adults but the kids there seemed to love it also.

    Saturday
    31st August

    3rd Ballykeeffe Rock Climbing Festival

For the third time Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre is showing its full potential as it invites climbers from near and far to come come together to celebrate their exciting sport. The public are welcomed to view the climbing demonstrations and with a tutor to try climbing the rockface themselves.

    Rock Climbing in Ballykeeffe
    Afternoon schedule (subject to change)
2.00 -4.00 pm Supervised ‘Come & try it‘ with trained instructor. (Minimum height restriction will apply)
3.00 pm Aerial dance workshop and display

    Crag rescue demonstration
6.00 pm Guided walk through Ballykeeffe Nature Reserve exploring local flora and fauna
7.00 pm Sorcaluba present ‘Letting Go‘
‘ Letting go’ is a fusion of dance, physical theatre and circus skills resulting in a powerful piece filled with emotion and excitement. Falling is natural part of any journey. Follow this beautiful story of a fallen girl, broken and unsteady, she is hiding from herself and the world. With no understanding of what went wrong and nobody and nothing to trust in she is left to find a new beginning. But to be steady she first needs to learn how to let go.
*8 pm Clare Sheridan – ‘Irelands Women Climbers’ An illustrated talk by one of Ireland’s one of most experienced climbers. Clare has combined raising a family with an extensive climbing career encompassing Yosemite and the European Alps. Her presentation shows that climbing can be for everybody.
8.45 pm Live Trad & Folk
