I've been thinking it'd be fun to have our own Boards Awards for our favourite shows and stations. I've taken the PPI catagories and stripped them back a bit.

So, take the post below, quote it and fill in your own choices.

Please: no quoting (apart from this one) and no discussion - I'll just delete posts that don't follow the format below. If it dies on it's ar5e, it dies on it's ar5e.

We'll leave it run for the rest of March and then tabulate the results.

Good to see Radio Na Life getting the music nod of approval. Excellent station playing varied and brilliant music and hosted by very polished presenters. Lovely accents and address of the mic. I don't speak any Irish (well I know capall agus ulla. Horse and apple (or have I been mislead?)) but that doesn't even hinder my appreciation of this exempler broadcaster.


Funny to see Ian Demp. getting such a huge vote. I voted him myself too and fully agree with the decision but find it odd that he's seldom mentioned on any threads. I would say one negative thing about him though: his playlist is very dated. However he does assuage this niggle by regularly having live new acts on at the end of the show.

I have never listened to Radio Na Life but I certainly might give it a listen to during the day when I get a chance.
I think the reason that Ian Dempsey doesn't get mentions is because they have a good show - and usually don't change much. The other breakfast shows are not so popular. Whatever anyone thinks of Ian - he has been doing breakfast radio longer than anyone else.

But I am enjoying watching the choices that people are coming up with.

Its a terrible time slot - but Newstalk have a documentary strand at 7am on saturdays and repeated on sundays at 9pm. we've a series in it at present called Urban Beauty, Urban Blight - which is about our cities and urban planning..but they have lots of good stuff in it - Lyric FM also have a documentary series at the weekend which has lots of gems.
