    I'm grand, see above for 'splanation. I am not happy with the EN354 titles though- so uninspiring! Well making up my own question...

    Ahh, the EN354 titles... I haven't read them, but my housemates told me that they're not great. I don't have to worry about essays until September w00t! (hopefully)

    I hear that philosopher Roger Scruton is pencilled in to give a lecture in Maynooth (in April, possibly. This is all only hearsay at the moment, I couldn't find anything online to back it up).

    Read just the initial paragraph of the following to get an idea of what an absolute weapon this guy is;
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/personal-view/3636798/This-right-for-gays-is-an-injustice-to-children.html

    He's an extreme right-winger, who is vocally opposed to homosexuality (even though he generally only talks about marriage, it's clear from this article and others that he wants all forms of homosexuality pushed underground or, even better, done away with altogether).

    After the massive deal people made out of the Bertie Ahern thing, I'll be interested to see if there is any reaction to this, if it does go ahead.

    As seen on the main NUIM Philosophy page:

    "Neurononsense and the Soul"
    by
    Professor Roger Scruton

    Physics Hall, South Campus
    Monday, April 12 At 8 p.m.

    Professor Roger Scruton is Resident Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, and Visiting Professor of Philosophy at Oxford University. He is author of more than forty books on philosophy, culture and politics, the most recent of which include: Beauty (Oxford, 2009), Understanding Music (Continuum, 2009), I Drink Therefore I am: A Philosopher's Guide to Wine (Continuum, 2009), and The Uses of Pessimism (Atlantic, 2010). Professor Scruton is also a columnist with the American Spectator magazine, an accomplished composer and a regular broadcaster. He was formerly Professor of Philosophy at Birkbeck College and at Boston University.
    At that hour on a Monday, I will not be going. Late lectures are dumb. They'd get a much bigger turnout earlier in the day. Bah.

    Maybe that's the point. They don't want a big turnout. What an unfortunate name though. I wonder how many people call him Professor Scrotum...
